Midsommar Movie details and Overview

These young American couples are having trouble with their relationship. Their relationship is on the brink of falling apart but has a family tragedy that keeps the couple together. The grieving Dani joins Christian and his friends without invitation to join hands in a trip to once-in-a lifetime midsummer festival. This festival was hosted in a remote Swedish village.

This scene takes a sinister turn when the villagers invited their guest to partake in festivals that condense the pastoral paradise increasingly scary and highly disturbing. Now a fairytale comes in from the visionary mind of Ari Aster. Now the world of dark unfolds in a broad daylight bringing the most active scenes of the movie.

Ari Aster was announced as the writer and the director of Midsommar in May 2018. Lars Knudsen was also announced as the producer.  B-Reel Films which is a German company was given the responsibility to serve as the producer film.    Ari Aster initially declined the offer feeling that he had no hand into the story but later gave in.

In July 2018, several other casts including Florence Pugh, Jack Reynor, Vilhem Blomgren, will Poulter, William Jackson and several others joined the case. The principal photography of the movie kicked on July 30th 2018, in Budapest Hungary. The photography session was expected to be wrapped in October 2018.

Release

Midsommar was prescreened at Alamo Draft house in New York City New York and is set for a huge release in July 3rd. 2019.

Critical response and rating

Midsommar has an approval rating of 85% on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. The ratings are based on 74 reviews that are listed in their official site. The film also attracts an average rating of 7.86/10.This movie is an up to scale proof that Ari Aster is a horror auteur.

The Hollywood Reporter-John DeFore describes the movie as the horror equivalent of a destination wedding and more unsettling than frightening but still a trip worth taking.
